TEIMAS, a technology company specialized in software solutions for waste managers and producers, has been the beneficiary of a grant for innovative companies awarded by the association EIT RawMaterials. Formed by companies, universities and research centers, this association's mission is to promote the sustainable growth of the European raw materials sector through innovation and education.

Among the of this 9.8 million euro grant 9.8 million are 60 European companies that stand out for their high growth potential and capacity for innovation.

Zero, the new TEIMAS project for smart waste management

In recent years, the circular economy model has become a priority in EU policies, embodied in an extensive environmental regulatory framework that affects the traceability of industrial waste and is reflected in the search for more sustainable production models.

In this context, new technologies such as Zero, TEIMAS' online platform that facilitates the intelligent management of waste in large corporations, gain importance. The development of this tool launched at the end of 2018 has been a logical step within TEIMAS' trajectory, after 10 years of experience in the creation of software for waste document management.

This tool ensures the traceability of documentation related to waste management and thus facilitates compliance with environmental regulations. On the other hand, it boosts sustainability strategies, since through its dashboards it allows visualizing business indexes, with the possibility of promoting a productive model based on the circular economy, incorporating the principles of the Zero WASTE movement in operations and contributing to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals in the management of the waste produced.

Since 2019, Zero has been implemented in several multinationals in Spain on a Software as a Service (SaaS) basis, a technology that does not require maintenance, hosting or security management. The support granted by EIT Rawmaterials will enable further expansion of Zero's functionalities.

Among the new features to be incorporated into Zero is a blockchain project for waste shipments, which will be operational in less than 3 months. This functionality will guarantee the immutability of the data of the waste generated, from its place of origin to its final treatment in a waste management center. To carry out this project, TEIMAS relies on Telefónica' s blockchain technology developments and the infrastructure, advice and resources of its innovation hub, Wayrathrough the Telefónica Activation Programme.
