Thanks to TEIMAS' Zero platform, the company has already managed the disposal of more than 400 tons of waste in the country. Ninety-eight percent of this waste has undergone recovery processes, in line with the company's environmental objectives.

American Tower España, leader in passive infrastructure for mobile telecommunications, recycles more than 400 tons of waste in Spain with the support of TEIMAS, an expert in digitization of the waste value chain.
In order to significantly reduce its environmental impact, American Tower España was looking to properly manage the waste generated during the construction and maintenance processes of the more than 11,500 telecommunications towers that the company has in Spain. The company needed a technology partner to provide a digital solution, with secure and easy access, to share information with external collaborators who process legal waste documentation in accordance with the requirements of each autonomous community.
The solution to improve information access and management, without altering the work process, has been the integration of the Zero waste management platform with American Tower's construction site management platform, used to record both waste departures from its facilities and other non-waste related data.
To ensure the security of this data, Zero allows different types of access for each type of user and role type, optimizing the supervision and delegation of tasks to waste managers and other external actors within the tool itself, such as the planning of departures and the creation or uploading of documentation before the transfer takes place.
In addition, this new operation has made it possible to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce the workload and the time required for dialogue between the company's personnel and its collaborators, streamline the waste auditing process, both internal and external, and measure and achieve sustainability objectives.
In the words of Paz Mateos, head of sustainability at American Tower Spain, "with the help of Zero and the TEIMAS team, we have achieved our goal of improving our environmental impact, facilitating access to the towers' waste management information and the monitoring of this information, guaranteeing traceability, which was unfeasible without an automated and accessible solution for our collaborators. This solution has also improved the presentation of evidence during the company's annual environmental audits.
According to Miguel Varela, CEO of TEIMAS, "the use of technologies such as data analysis or cloud in waste management is decisive in driving the transition to circular and sustainable production and consumption models. And digital tools such as Zero demonstrate the ability of technology to drive sustainability and promote the return of used goods to the production cycle in a profitable way, creating capital instead of reducing it".
Zero is currently used in 10,900 centers and 900 American Tower projects to centralize waste information and automate document management tasks, resulting to date in the management of 1,250 waste outputs (corresponding to a total of 430 tons of waste) with their respective environmental documentation generated or attached; the creation of 740 contacts (corresponding to management centers, transporters, operators, etc.), belonging to 537 different companies; and the identification of 140 different types of waste. As for the treatment of this waste, 98.2% was subjected to recovery processes, in line with the company's environmental objectives.
